Since 1 November 2008 an EPC is mandatory when selling houses, apartments etc. From 1 January 2009 this has also been mandatory in the case of rental.

The EPC informs potential purchasers about the energy status of a building, providing targeted information about cost-effective measures to improve the energy performance of the structure.
